Evaluation: My evaluation was based on the criteria based on Kathy Schrock's Guide for Education. URL - http://school.discovery.com/schrochguide/chaff.html Site I- URL- http://www.frontiernet.net/~kidpower/astronomy.html - "Astronomy for Kids". Navigation and Usability: This is an excellent site for the children to obtain information as well as visualize the planets of the solar system and their location. The children will enjoy the graphics and the ease on mobility through out the site. Excellent for the primary grades as a foundation for learning the planets. Site 3 - URL - http://pds.jpl.NASA.gov.planets/ - "Welcome to the Planets".. Navigation and Usability: This site is very good for the junior high level and up. The opening page graphics are two dimensional which were taken form the files from NASA's space program and would appeal to any viewer's eye. Information obtained from any of the numerous hypertext links will satisfy those looking for just the basic information to those wishing to go into great detail. Authorship: The information for this site was supplied by the California Institute of Technology under NASA and was sponsored by the Government. Content Validity: The content of this site can be verified by NASA, the U.S. Government.
My Choice: I selected NBCi.com - http://www.frontiernet.net~kidpower/astronomy.htm kidpower@frontlinenet.net - "Astronomy for Kids". I felt it had all the qualifications to meet Kathy Schrocks criteria. The web site was well organized, very user friendly and had excellent eye catching graphics. I felt this site compared to the two other sites I searched had more information (basic to very detailed) which could be used for self knowledge as well as use in the classroom. The two other sites seemed to be geared more for the upper grades where this site is more for the lower grades.
